History
History, part of the Humanities Department, is a vibrant and thriving curriculum area. It is led by Mrs. Sue Thurman. We currently have six classes studying GCSE (three in both Years 10 and 11) as well as a large A-Level contingent, showing how popular this optional subject is.
History is compulsory at Key Stage Three, and students at Kineton are fortunate to receive up to two hours of History lessons a week, more than in many schools. All students in Years 7-9 are issued with a blue booklet listing all the key topics and assessments for this key stage, as well as information on how to reach National Curriculum levels in each historical skill.
The History department has worked with the local community, for example contributing to the Kineton Local History Society’s Snapshot project.
History runs its own website, which parents and students may wish to visit. Here we post all the specifications and topics that we teach at each key stage, as well as every compulsory resource that students will need (coursework materials, essay guidance worksheets etc.) in case paper copies go missing. In addition, students may post articles or reviews on the website.
