Harry Camp, Chris Atkins and Christian Squire, all in Year 10, have got into the U15 Oxfordshire Hockey Squad – well done to them all. 3 out of the 18 in the team from KHS!

Its time to get cooking! As part of their RE ILT Year 7 students were challenged to prepare some food that was representative of one of the six major religions. Yesterday we had fun sampling some of the results from 7ST.

Designing Our Own App

Year 11 students Ollie, Ben, Courtney and Will visited the Serious Games Institute with Mr Wallis where they had the chance to find out about working with technology as they designed their own app for the ipad based on their GCSE Biology work. It was an amazing experience!

Get Me Into Open Day 4th February 10am to 1pm

Get Me Into is holding an Open Day at Kineton High School on 4^th February 2012 from 10am to 1pm.

It’s a great opportunity for the communities of Kineton and surrounding villages to come along and find out about the facilities available at the school for the community to use.

You can find out about or try the fitness suite and the clubs that run sessions at school – Badminton, Zumba, Tae Kwon Do and Floor Ball. You can talk to us about hiring the new floodlit astro turf or about opening the swimming pool in the summer. You can also find out about the youth club.

Perhaps you have a talent you would like to share in a U3A class or you want to know about holiday camps for the children? There will be lots of information available in the school hall.

Get Me Into is working to provide a better range of services for the local Kineton community. So come along and get yourself into Get Me Into.

Positive GCSE Drama Performances

Asking someone out is a nightmare. It’s not easy is it? You spend all your time thinking about how to ask her or him out…trying to pluck up the courage and yet worrying sick that you’re going to be knocked back.

‘Positive’ is a piece of drama that explores the issues of relationships.

Suitable for Year 9 and above. Adults £4 Students £2.

Finding out about KHS

Year 5 students from Lighthorne Heath and The Dassett Primary Schools visited Kineton today, 19th January, to make a radio programme all about Kineton High School. The students are participating in one of a series of Radio Days running this year that will involve all of the primary schools that feed into Kineton High School. The students worked with Year 8 students Ben Muir, Harry Watts and Chloe Hill and their finished programme will be taken back to their own primary schools to share with students there.

Book Fair In The Library

The Book Fair will be in the Library every break and lunchtime from Monday 23rd to Thursday 26th January, with a good selection of books, stationery and posters available for students to buy. The English Department are running competitions and students can win £5 vouchers to spend at the fair.

Who Wants To Be An Entrepreneur?

Students at Kineton High School have been busy working on their own version of Young Apprentice – Who Wants To Be An Entrepreneur? Working in Tutor Groups students competed against each other to create a new snack food product. On the last day of term before the Christmas holidays the students went head to head presenting their ideas to a team of judges that included Beverley Dunkey from the specialist chocolate maker Barry Callebaut. The judges were impressed with the range of original and exciting concepts the students had come up with from smoothie shots to popping candy.

Today the winners were announced. Congratulations to all of the students who worked so hard to come up with such original ideas.
