KHS Rowers in National Schools Head of River Race

Kineton High School is incredibly proud of its rowers Ed Lewry, Alex Beckett, Franklin Hamilton and Harry Stirling who came sixth in their age group, U15 coxed fours, in the Schools Head of River Race on Tuesday 20th March 2012 in London racing against the best crews in the country.

The race takes place each March on the Thames from Chiswick Bridge to Putney on the course that is used for the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race. The competition aims to promote rowing in schools and there were over 300 crews taking part from all over the UK.

The boys have had a successful season winning at Stourport Small Boats Head in November, then at Northampton Head in January and also at Worcester Head in February. They all got involved with rowing after a visit by Stratford Boat Club to Kineton High School and now train regularly with the club.

Year 7 Indoor Cricket – Next Stop Edgbaston Finals

Congratulations to the team in beating Lawrence Sherriff by 28 runs to qualify for the finals at Edgbaston in April.

Batting first Rory Geary-Heaton and Isaac Rowles both batted intelligently, both retiring on 25. They were ably supported by Fraser Lindsay, in the end we scored 97 runs in 10 overs.

Wickets were slightly harder to come by but tight bowling ensured that Lawrence Sherriff were always behind the run rate.  Some excellent fielding by Isaac Rowles helped maintain the pressure.

After a late flourish by Sherriff at the end Kineton were comfortable winners.

Next stop Edgbaston and finals day!

U15 Rugby win 31-12 against Stratford High

Congratulations to the team after their comfortable victory against Stratford High School.

Tries scored by Charlie Allerton, Luke Hammond, Harry Graham and Tom Arnold.

The team played well, offloading in the tackle and keeping the ball alive as much as possible. Defensively we were solid and managed to stop their big runners.

Final score was 31 -12.

Ed Joy was voted man of the match by the watching hospital crew of Jack, Billy and George!
